A Moment of Silence for the King

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:32 pm by Erica

As I’m sure you’ve heard, today is the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death.  Although he was only 42 when he died, let’s take a moment to remember the man who continues to influence the music world and will do so for years to come.   Thank you very much!

Don’t Use This Moving Company

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:40 pm by Erica

My sister-in-law gave us a diningroom set that belonged to my husband’s deceased mother, so as you can imagine, it has great sentimental value.  Not wanting to take anything to chance, because I live on the second floor of a two-family, we decided to hire a moving company.  After speaking with Movers in Action, out of Boston, we were thrilled because they said they would be able to move the set that day and they could get the set up the stairs with “no problem”.  That is when things went down hill.  They informed us that they would be at my in-laws in under 2 hours.  2 hours came and went and after a follow up call, we were told that they were behind schedule.  It took another 2 hours for them to arrive (wasting an entire day of my family’s time).  Once at the site, they told my in-laws that we directed them to only move a table and that they would not be able to move the accompanying hutch that was part of the set.  After much hemming and hawing on their part, and after loading the furniture on the truck, I spoke with the movers (for the 3rd or 4th time that day) and they said there was no way to move the set to the second floor of my two family home (they wanted to bring it and leave it on the first floor, but we don’t live on the first floor).  I finally got fed up and asked them to just move the items into the garage at my in-laws and to leave and I would hire another company.  They then told me that they were going to charge my credit card (that I left as deposit) $200 for travel and time spent.  I was apaulled.  I’ve since filed a complaint with my credit card company to have the charges reversed and learned that they actually charged me $252.  All I can say is DON’T use this company, hire anyone else!

Great work by American Eagle!

Last week I needed to travel to Toronto for business.  It was a day trip and I wasn’t scheduled to get back home until after 9pm.  As you know, I have a 3 month old and the last thing I wanted to do was get home late, because he would be in bed by the time I walked in the door.  So, once my meeting had ended, I headed to the airport in the hopes of getting on an earlier flight.  To my delight, the staff of American Eagle were more than willing to help and got me on a flight that had me landing in Boston by 5pm, at no additional cost!  The flight crew were courtious and a real pleasure.  So kudos to American Eagle!  I’ll definitely be flying with them again!

Fisher Price Recall

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:59 pm by Erica

I was skimming through the news items of the day and saw a recall notice on 1 million Fisher Price toys.  Of course, being a parent, it freaked me out.  So much so that I blogged about it on my company blog.  I’ve also linked to the full list if you’re interested.

OJ, who are you trying to kid?

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:19 pm by Erica

I read an AP article this morning that made me lough out loud.  It was on OJ Simpson and how he criticized the Goldman family for suing him for the rights to his book about how he didn’t kill Nicole and Ron, but if he did, here’s how he’d do it.  My personal opinion – Good for the Goldmans!  Their son was taken away from them and OJ owes them a lot of money.  Why should he make money off of the book and not pay what he owes.  The proceeds should go to the family of the vicitims.  OJ is just ticked off because he found a way to capitalize on a brutal crime and someone one up’d him.  Kudos Goldmans, Kudos!!!
