Gotta Love the Fall in New England
Hi everyone! I have to say, I’m in a really good mood today. Fall is one of my favorite seasons and it wasn’t until this week that it really started to feel like fall in New England. Mostly because (and I’m not complaining) its been unseasonably warm. But this week, it has been a bit cooler, the leaves are gorgeous and you can just smell the fresh fall air. This is one of the best times to be a New Englander!

My how things have changed.
So I hope you all had an enjoyable Halloween. Mine started off great! As you can see by the before/during/after pictures of Jack. I did have a couple of moments of disappointment though. First, some of the costumes that are being sold today are ridiculous – for little kids there is almost nothing to them, just a little to much showing for my taste. I also saw several reports on the news about this, so I’m glad to see its not just me.
Also, not to get on my soapbox but….we gave out candy until 8pm and then shut off our lights because Jack was in bed. At the same time, my parents who live next door did the same because my father was feeling ill. At 9:30 we both heard our doorbells ring. There was a group of teenagers (at least 15 years old) in costumes that I didn’t wear when I was in the best shape of my life. Not only that, but when I answered the door, the response I got was, “Oh, you got candy too?” I hate to say it, because I try not to be rude, but I snapped at this little girl saying “I do, but I have my lights off for a reason.” I just couldn’t believe it. What’s worse, is that my parent’s doorbell rang even later than that.
I’m all about Halloween, but c’mon. I had no desire to trick or treat when I was 15…I spent my time like any other good teenager – hanging out somewhere I wasn’t supposed to be or at a party doing things that I wasn’t supposed to do. These kids needed to get a life and get back to the basics of having fun.
