OKA b. shoes – love them!

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , at 7:52 pm by Erica

So my company works with OKA b. shoes.  Of course, I got a pair of my own, to show my support of PAN’s client base and I gotta say, they are very comfortable.  I’ve worn them a couple of places – to the zoo (walking around all day) and to a water park with my son – which was great since they are water resistant.

I’d definitely recommend them to my friends and family.  They come in a bunch of colors/designs – mine are black with some beads – and they are very durable and comfortable.  I give them two thumbs up for anyone looking for fashion and comfort!

BTW – OKA b. was also recently highlighted in (Oprah’s Magazine).

Book Review – You’ve Been Warned

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , at 8:09 pm by Erica

Wow – this was the quickest I’ve read a book in a while.  I couldn’t put it down.  It is definitely off the beaten path for Patterson, but I liked it.  The main character, Kristin Burns, keeps having these weird occurences, but has a very difficult time putting two and two together…so did I.  As I read, you think she’s a nice enough girl – aside from the fact that she’s involved in an affair, but a last minute plot twist (which was a bit weirdly placed, if you ask me) helps you to pull everything together.  I will say – overall the ending is a bit far fetched, yet predictable, but the book held my attention to the end.  I also contiue to love the fact that Patterson keeps the chapters of his books short, which keeps me saying “ok, I’ll read one more”.

George Carlin – Rest in Peace

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , at 1:15 pm by Erica

Yesterday the world lost a comedic legend – George Carlin, at the age of 71.  He is most famous for the “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television,” his HBO specials and for being the first host ever of Saturday Night Live.  Carlin was a comedian, author and actor and was a huge tallent.

Book Review: Almost Moon by Alice Sebold

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:03 pm by Erica

So when I heard that the author of Lovely Bones came out with a new book – I had to have it.  As my husband noted, I take a long time to read a book because I thoroughly enjoy it.  Lovely Bones I finished in a day or two – not that I didn’t enjoy it, rather it was so intense, I couldn’t put it down…I will also definitely see the movie coming out next year.

When I got the Almost Moon I dug in immediately, but then my pace slowed, as did the book itself.  The main character and narrator (Helen) begins by murdering her mother.  Then throughout the book Sebold leaves opportunity for multiple plot twists, that never happen – she’s going to hide the murder, no blame it on someone else, no runaway, no commit suicide.  At the same time, Sebold referred back to Helen’s time as a child – a mentally ill mother, a father who committed suicide.  All the while, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, which is why I was so disappointed by the end of the book when essentially nothing happened.  She was left “waiting”.

I’m sure there will be plenty of people who love the book, but I didn’t care for the fact that Helen was constantly whinning about her mother and her childhood and blamed her mother for shaping her entire existence.  Also, the ending ruined it for me so I ended up being disappointed.  That’s not to say I wouldn’t read other books by Sebold, I just needed more from this one.

Verizon Fios vs. Comcast – no contest

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , at 12:54 pm by Erica

Verizon Fios recently came to my area so I switched from Comcast.  All I have to say is – LOVE IT!  When I had Comcast my high speed internet was shotty at best.  I had so many service calls that I ended up knowing more about my technician than I did about my own family.  I think I had at least 4 motums replaced.  With Fios, I’ve not had an issue at all – and its been a few months.  I’m very pleased with the reliability and the speed of service.  So, for those of you who are considering switching – I say Go For It, well worth it.

Happy Summer!

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:55 pm by Erica

I can’t believe it is the end of May and we’re into summer – where does the time go!  I’m looking forward to a fun filled summer of weddings, showers, bachelorettes and more baby showers – per my previous post back in March – they just keep coming!  Unfortunately, no vacation planned, but that doesn’t mean that Jack and I won’t be hitting the beach.

Anyway, I would not be a proper parent if I didn’t wish everyone well, but at the same time, please play safe (this goes for adults too).  Summer is a fun time and we all want to keep it that way!!!  So, take the time to relax, smell the flowers and kick back, just don’t be stupid about it.

Well, its been several weeks since by last post, so I figured I’d make it easy and link to the post I wrote this a.m. on my company’s blog.  The topic of discussion is best practices for tradeshows and events.

Enjoy!

NKOTB is BACK!

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:43 pm by Erica

If you are a girl between the ages of 25 and 40, you’ve heard the good news – New Kids on the Block is reuniting!  I was a HUGE New Kids fan back in the day and when I heard about their appearance on the today show, it immediately morphed me back to the pre-pubescent era of the late 80s/early 90s when big hair and pegged pants were in.

SO, if you were ever Hangin’ Tough hoping that you Got the Right Stuff for Jordan to tell you that he’ll Be Loving You Forever, then I’m sure you’re going to do what I did and set your Tivo to the Today Show Tomorrow!

Congrats to the Babies of March!

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:22 pm by Erica

Ok, so I just need to point out that I know a bunch of moms-to-be right now and I believe there are at least five that are due in the month of March.  So I’d like to extend my best wishes to Mike and Benay who were due on March 14 and are patently waiting; Jen and Kevin who are due March 19; and Becki and Steven who are expecting on March 20.  Also congratulations to Leigh and Jill, who are both due in March, but I don’t know the exact due dates.    If I’m missing anyone, my sincerest apologies.  Good luck to all of you who are about to face sleepless nights and dirty diapers, it is hands-down the most amazing experience in the world!  I’ve also included below a recent picture of my little angel – they grow up SO fast!
